When something at work doesn’t add up.

You’re facing a difficult situation or an important decision, and you want to think it through with someone who understands how organizations work.

I’m Jen Pierce, an executive coach and advisor. I help experienced leaders make sense of what’s happening, examine their options and decide what to do next.

You know the situation. You may be less sure what to make of it.

Your boss says you’re doing well, but you’ve been passed over again. You’ve taken on a new role, yet the authority and expectations remain unclear. A relationship with a colleague is becoming harder, and your attempts to address it aren’t helping.

Or an opportunity has come along, and you’re trying to work out how much of its appeal is about the role itself and how much is about wanting to leave.

You may have already spent a lot of time thinking about it. What would help now is an outside perspective from someone who can understand the context and question your interpretation.

We start with what’s actually happening.

I’ll listen to your account and ask about what you’ve observed, the people involved and what you’ve already tried. We’ll look at the explanations that fit the evidence, including anything you may be overlooking about your own part in the situation.

Sometimes the work involves changing how you communicate or lead. Sometimes it means addressing an expectation that was never agreed, recognizing an organizational constraint or deciding what you’re willing to accept.

The purpose is to reach a sound judgment about your next move and help you put it into practice.

Experience you can draw on.

Before becoming an executive coach, I spent nearly 30 years in corporate roles spanning investment banking, HR and senior commercial leadership, including leading trading businesses at BP.

I’ve been responsible for business results and people, worked through difficult organizational changes and participated in decisions that affected other people’s careers. I understand how complicated these situations can become when you’re personally involved.

That experience informs the questions I ask. I won’t assume your situation is the same as one I’ve seen before, and I’ll tell you if I think there’s another interpretation worth considering.

How we can work together

You can bring a specific situation to a focused advisory conversation, including An Hour with Jen.

Ongoing coaching gives us time to work on recurring leadership challenges, try different approaches and examine what happens as you put them into practice.

You don’t need to know which format you want before we speak. We can start with what you’re facing and discuss what would be useful.

What clients say

“I started working with Jen with a narrow goal: increase my bonus. What I didn’t realize was how much compensation at my level is tied to visibility and influence & not just P&L. The result: a materially higher bonus and a very different standing. I was no longer just a strong performer but became seen as a trusted leader.”
— Manager Director, Global Markets

“After moving to a new firm, I hit the ground running. Within my first two months, I generated more revenue than many senior traders already on the desk, including recognition from the Head of Oil personally. The work I did with Jen fundamentally changed how I show up under pressure. I’m calmer, more confident, and far clearer about my value.”
— Commodity Trader, London

“Jen’s coaching was highly targeted and practical — not generic leadership advice. Having a coach who genuinely understands trading-floor dynamics made a material difference. I approached my next role with far greater clarity and confidence and ultimately secured a position with markedly higher compensation.”
— Commodity Trader, Geneva
